***UPDATED***Groovy Things To Do in the Cleve

Sat Map of the CLE

Hello Friends!

I have recently gotten a job as a writer (my first paying gig!) at About.com. I am going to be their Go to Gal regarding all things KIDS in the Cleveland area. Since moving back to Cleveland, the kids and I have had to search out for some fantastic and unforgettable things in our city. I want to change that. I want to write about the hidden gems, the awesome art classes at the CMA, the Zoo School, the Beck Center Music classes, etc. I want to make kids and parents really get to know the city of Cleveland!

I would like you guys to send me your ideas, your inspirations, thing you do in this city with your kids! If you are cool with having your pic on About.com send me pictures. The Contact Chef’s Widow button on my right is my email. Feel free to comment as well!

UPDATE******

I’ve been PUBLISHED people!!!  Check me out on About.com

That is so cool! Congrats. Unfortunately, I dont’ know anything about Cleveland, so I’m not going to be any help :-)

You know most of the places. One of the places that I wasn’t aware of was Playground World in Avon where they set aside an hour or two for the public to play in their showroom. That was a highlight on our last trip. Don’t forget about Memphis Kiddie Park! Oh I was delighted on our last visit to see how kid friendly (and fun for Ben) Rocky River Library was too.
Congrats on the job. I should send you a link to a Phoenix Kids website that is updated often to provide all things happening and where to go with kids here. I always said Cleveland should promote something similar.

Since I work at Rocky River Library I am a little prejudiced but their kid’s programs are excellent. I’ve been to lots of local library programs and the librarians at River are just special ladies. Very talented and kind.
Another fun (and free!) place for kids is the Lake Erie Science and Nature Center in Bay Village. They do a summer camp program as well as tons of programs during the school year. They have a great outdoor area too. After we go there we always go to Huntington Beach for the Honey Hut’s ice cream. Yumminess.
Congrats, CW, on your new gig! You’ll be wonderful and I can’t wait to read your stuff!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Preston’s Hope playground in Beachwood - my girl can play there for hours at a time. And my older neice and nephew ask to go there when they visit. I’ll look through my iphoto library at home and send you some pics if I can find them. (http://www.prestonshope.com/)

We also like to go out to Chagrin Falls (can you tell I live on the east side?) for weekend afternoons. We stroll around, get ice cream at Dewey’s, feed the ducks, grab a bite. It’s a prety drive and a quaint little area.

Neither of these area truly CLEVELAND but part of the area. I can’t wait to see what you write as I’m sure you know a ton that I don’t!

My kids are grown, but my DH and I are taking a kayaking class on Sunday (was supposed to be at Emerald Necklace Marina, but due to weather has been relocated to a reservoir in Aurora). Which got me thinking…..
Adults can kayak on the rivers/lake,
but a fun, easy, cheap thing to do with kids would be to take them down to the Emerald Necklace Marina in the Cleve Metroparks- watch the boats on the river and get ice cream.
