View my page on Chef’s Widow
Widows,
I have created a Chef’s Widow social network on Ning. Â I thought it would be a good place to get to know each other, talk (and/or bitch) about our Chefs, promote chef events, chef restaurants, and chef food.
Please join me if you are a chef wife, chef girlfriend, chef boyfriend, chef husband, chef groupie, chef mother, chef kid, or chef father. Â
Knives & Kisses,
Chef’s Widow
I know there are a LOT more things to be out crusading for…but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pandora. Â She makes my day wonderful. Â She introduces me to new voices on an hourly basis and I am not quite sure how I would live life without her.
Please take action so Pandora doesn’t get taken away by the evil genius Clear Channel.
Listeners we need your help… NOW!
After a yearlong negotiation, Pandora, artists and record companies are finally optimistic about reaching an agreement on royalties that would save Pandora and Internet radio. But just as we’ve gotten close, large traditional broadcast radio companies have launched a covert lobbying campaign to sabotage our progress.
Yesterday, Congressman Jay Inslee, and several co-sponsors, introduced legislation to give us the extra time we need but the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), which represents radio broadcasters such as Clear Channel, has begun intensively pressuring lawmakers to kill the bill. We have just a day or two to keep this from collapsing.
This is a blatant attempt by large radio companies to suffocate the webcasting industry that is just beginning to offer an alternative to their monopoly of the airwaves.
Please call your Congressperson right now and ask them to support H.R. 7084, the Webcaster Settlement Act of 2008 - and to not capitulate to pressure from the NAB. Congress is currently working extended hours, so even calls this evening and over the weekend should get answered.
The central congressional switchboard number is: (202) 225 3121
Or to look up your representative, visit:Â https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml
If the phone is busy, please try again until you get through. These calls really do make a difference.
This is a fork in the road. Only massive grassroots opposition will keep us from another 50 years of top 40 radio. It’s time to take a stand and break the stranglehold of broadcast media on radio.
Thanks so much for you ongoing support.
Tim

Biggie Smalls, no longer small, pulls on my leg like she wants a pony
Â
In honor of my favorite rockstar mom bloggers’Â impending birth of her baby girl, I am participating in her online co-baby shower that she is sharing with another very cool ma’s blogger. Â The task at hand for the Mo’ Baby Mo’ Baby Mo’ Baby shower is to write about the early days of mommyhood and babyhood. Â A bit of a hard task for this moms as her baby girl will be turning the big ONE YEAR OLD on October 30th however any chance to write about Louisiana’s first days is always a welcome one.
The early days of Biggie Smalls life were so different than the early days of Catcher’s. Â Because she was our second we kind of felt like we had a grasp on the whole parenting thing. Â We were obviously drunk….(with excitement of course!)
Biggie came into this world and immediately went for the boob. Â Seriously she popped out, the nurse wiped her off, the Chef held her, and the she was given to me. Â She looked into my eyes with her big blues and nuzzled into my chest for the boob. Â She immediately latched on and began to eat. Â I was in shock. Â And I think everyone else in the room was as well. Â Catcher took almost two days to start nursing and this crazy girl latched on within the first five minutes of her life. Â And that was it. Â She had declared herself an eater. And eat she did.
My baby girl had fiery red hair (a full head) and a superwoman personality from day one. Â She amazed me with every day. Â It was easier in those first few months than Catcher had been. Â Louisiana was picture perfect. She looked like a doll, she slept all night by month one, and she ate like my boobs could dry up at any second. Â She even managed to amuse Catcher, something I had feared would not happen throughout my pregnancy. Â She lit up (and still does) the Chef’s eyes every time he saw her, and most important, she made us the family we were always meant to be. {insert cheese here} Â
My Biggie Smalls is about to be 1 on Devil’s Night. Â Which is pretty bad ass in itself. Â Bad ass birthday for a bad ass chicka. Â I can’t believe how time flies with the second baby. Â Catcher’s first year of his life was looooooooong. Â Her first year was gone in 5.5 seconds. Â Crazy. Â C’est La Vie.
Happy Baby Shower Ladies!!

It seems like every decade there is a musician that is involved or killed in a plane crash, last night Travis Barker & DJ AM were in a fiery plane crash in South Carolina. Â As of a fan of Blink 182 and Travis Barkers’ bad ass drumming skills I am totally bummed. Â My thoughts and prayers go out to their families & friends (especially Travis’ young kids).
Â
After 5 years of babies and pregnancy I finally took the plunge and got some new ink (the state of Louisiana and the NYC skyline from the cover of the original Catcher in The Rye).
A tribute to my wonderful very missed Grandma who ended every conversation or letter with the above words (in her handwriting). Â Also close to my heart as that is how the Chef first told me he loved me. Â He had never known my grandma.
