This is a silly happy moment, but it almost brought me to tears. About three years ago, when my son was 2 1/2, we were walking through a parking lot, hand-in-hand. He looked up at me and said, “Can I walk this way, Daddy?” and proceed to do a little skip. I said, “Sure.” He then proceeded to bend to the side, sway his arm in an exagerrated, gee-williker way, and swagger with a little Shaggy oomph. “Can I walk THIS way?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said, bubbling up with pride.

My boy was a goof, with a classic sense of slapstick humor.

In other words, in this blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy who looks just like my lovely wife, I finally saw me.

It’s rare that I can to spend time with all three of them at once. And here we are – all together happy, and ready to see my favorite Ohio grown band Red Wanting Blue. It was an awesome night and I was on top of the world.
