Let the moving (to the east side) begin.
I have been a slack ass about our big move. No I haven’t. Who the hell am I kidding? I have just been way the eff to busy to pack my entire house. When I am not parenting, I am working, when I’m not working, I’m writing, not writing, bills, not bills, sleeping, not sleeping, sex, etc. ,fucking, etc.
I have exactly 24 days to pack my house. I would love to use a moving company like Two Men & a Truck or Allied but they are just so g’damn expensive. Can’t do it. So I think I’m gonna go PODS crazy. The PODS thing makes sense to me. They park it in my driveway, I add our shit over the next month, they deliver to new house, I unpack. Easy Peasy. Now I just need to order some boxes and the packing can commence.
Fuuuuhhhhhhck. I SO SO SO don’t want to do this. Why can’t my gypsy blood be quenched? Why in jebus almighty do we constantly feel the need to move. I mean our house is fine. No it’s not. It’s not small. Yes it is. It’s close to the restaurant. No it’s not. There is alot of culture here. No there’s not. We love the ‘burbs. Negatory.
Ok Ok.
We definitely HAVE to move. I just wish we were Oprah rich & someone else could do it for us because I absolutely abhor the moving process. Almost as much as I hate Pennsylvania. Screw You Dutchmen!
Man I’m snarky this morn. I think this post should have been called How Many Times Can a Chef’s Widow say fuck?
*** If you are happy (or at least not as bitchy) as me this morning, I suggest entering my awesome widow giveaway!
****And if anyone has a scan of the Bon Appetit article about our restaurant I would absolutely LOVE it if you could email it to me. I have yet to see it.

Have you called Mr. Mover? They’re located in Lake County but really reasonable. I’ve used them twice and my parents have as well. I don’t know if they’ll go to the west side but it’s worth a try to call. http://www.800mrmover.com/
Here’s the link for the article:

Wow, I just knew that we had more in common than the chef and GHT now. I hate moving also, and a large part of PA. I sent you an email at the GHT address about your move, just in case you have not been able to read it.
good luck with the move…I hate to say we STILL have stuff in boxes from our Dec 2007 move. The packing and the move are so taxing, it makes the unpacking suck so much more.
Oh, and …Welcome to the Eastside, Widow!!
We moved when the twins were 4 months old. Our house (in Euclid) sold in 14 days and we had to gut a kitchen, bath, paint every room, rip carpet, etc in the new house before we could move. I don’t remember that month of our lives. Honestly. No clue how I packed a house up, recovered from a c-section and took care of two infants. We got thorugh it and we didn’t leave one of the kids in a storage box! You can do it!!!
Liquor stores are great resources for good size boxes. Heavy enough and not so big that you will overpack and hurt yourself lifting them.
I bet if you offered some GHT chicken wings and some drinkies, you’d get plenty of volunteers to help you out
We used Leaders and were very happy with it. Husband and I did all of the packing, they showed up on time and an hour later we were moved in. All we had to do was unpack the boxes. Cost about $350 – we had a lot more boxes of books than we had estimated in the online quote but the price didn’t go up.
Welcome to the Eastside! What neck of the woods are you headed to?
I have what I think is the perfect ‘welcome to the neighborhood’ gift.
On 8/16, WFM is having a pretty limited special offer- all employees got a number of 20% off all purchases (excluding alcohol, damn ohio). coupons to give away to whomever they choose, I’d love to pass one along to you guys- I’ll give to Billy to pass along to you, UNLESS you won’t be able to take advantage of it- the 16th only- don’t want these babies to go to waste!
Congratulations on all your successes! I’m a huge fan and really excited for you.
Shoot me an e-mail if you could to let me know yea or nea on the coupon.
Maggie
Welcome to the East Side….Can’t wait to have you close by! Moving sucks, though.
No matter how you do it.
Congrats on Bon Appetite. Glad Bobby likes the wings. We do, too. I, especially love them when dux are mixed in, too. But, then, I haven’t met anything on the menu that I don’t like.
*****By the way, Slow Food is a charity. We help Farmers, and provide education programs ffor young chefs, Amelia. And we help young teachers who teach kids about food.
We are a 501 (C) (3) charity…the same as SOS….guess we haven’t done a good enough job about educating people about why we need to raise money.
