Gap Born to Fit The Greenhouse Tavern
Published in Widowism by chefswidowTwo months ago I met a woman named Justine. She asked me if I would like to become a Gap Brand Enthusiast. Not knowing what that was I said yes immediately. I dig the Gap and I dig enthusiasm so it just made S-E-N-S-E.
After agreeing to the role of a GBE I found out what exactly that role entails. Jeans, jeans, and more jeans! I would be given the opportunity to try out Gap’s new Born to Fit jeans and throw a party for my friends. Because my life revolves around the restaurant, I thought it would be badass to have the party there. Then I thought why not have the party for the restaurant? An idea was born.
The people who work at our restaurant have become our family. There would be no restaurant without them. There would be no Bon Appetit mention if we did not have back waiters and servers, chefs or dishwashers. There would be no trip to Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival if we had no bartenders and no managers. They make this restaurant. Their beliefs in what we do here inspire me everyday. They are passionate about The Greenhouse Tavern and it shows every time someone writes something kind about us. The Chef and I are extremely lucky to have such a phenomenal set of people making up our Greenhouse family.

The Greenhouse Family (and Potato)
With that in mind, I contacted Justine to see if it may be possible to have a slightly larger party then the one she first offered. I told her my plan, she called The Gap peeps, and gave me the ok to have a Greenhouse Tavern staff Born to Fit party. The Gap sent me TONS & TONS of jeans in all different sizes and flavors. Skinny, straight, loose, and athletic jeans all showed up at more door a few weeks back. Needless to say I was WAY excited for my Gap Born to Fit party.

The party went off without a hitch. The Chef & I wanted to keep it a surprise so we told everyone we were having a staff meeting. All 40 people who work at the restaurant showed up and I was so so so stoked to tell them about my big surprise. We popped some champagene (a 1988 Henriot mind you) and I let the cat out the bag. Awesomeness followed:
My Gap Born to Fit party was too cool for school. And the jeans, well, I’ll let the jeans speak for themselves:

Chris models his Gap Born to Fit Straight Jeans…wowza!

Watch out world, Keri shows her Born to Fit skinnies! A-M-E-N!

Corrine models her kicks and her Born to Fits!
I am so proud of our staff here at The Greenhouse Tavern and I am so grateful that I could share such fantastic and cool jeans with them. I am dead serious about the jeans being cool. Since the party, not 1, not 2, but every single person who celebrated with me at my Born to Fit party has come up to me at the restaurant and told me how magnificent their jeans are. I kid you not. My (and everyone else’s) ass looks fabulous in them. Even the boys. They are truly born to fit.

Seriously, not just saying this because it is a jeans kind of post, but I would be lost without my jeans!!!! right now my favorite pair is a pair from AE but no matter what else I’m wearing I’m happiest in my jeans!
I covet those jeans. I must have them!!
My ass would look HOT in those jeans!! RT @chefswidowmy ass looks great in these jeans giveaway http://bit.ly/2msN13
Love the post. What a wonderful thing to do for your staff. Looks like a blast. The jeans are fabulous! Anyway, my fav article of clothing is a light weight white tee. Can dress it down or dress it up w/ diff flavors of denim! ;0)
my favorite article of clothing is, white t-shirts. the ones that go under your shirts. i have no idea why i love them so much, but i have over 100 of them and i keep buying more. i feel like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory, when he keeps buying copies of Catcher in the Rye and has no idea why.
maybe I am a secret covert agent?
Then again, maybe not.
My FAVE thing in my closet is my vintage black rabbit fur (yeah yeah) coat. It’s from the 40s, cropped sleeves and completely fabulous… and I love it because my Nana gave it to me. Love.
This is for the gift certificate (as androgynous as “Mel” sounds, I am female)– thanks, Amelia!
My favorite article of clothing is one that I just lost. It was a green, belted trench coat style jacket. I think it actually might have been a Gap jacket but I’m not certain. Anyway, it recently vanished and I am quite sad! I loved the jacket because it was such a nice color and made me feel dressy and cool even if I was just wearing jeans. I hope I find another one just like it!
My fav piece of clothing is a charcoal gray trench coat that I bought last fall. The sleeves are 3/4 length and the buttons are fantastic! I always feel great when I where it…even if the outfit underneath is less than spectacular.
Love that you threw the party for the GH staff. How nice to be appreciated!

My fave piece of clothing are my BF’s Calivin Klein t-shirts. They are super comfty and smell like him.
My fave picture from your Born To FIt party is The Born To Cheers pic.. looks like fun times!
My favorite article of clothing is a patchwork hippie skirt I bought at a Grateful Dead show in the early ’90′s. Actually, when I bought it, it was a dress…green corduroy on top with a little purple calico heart sewm over my heart and a patchwork bottom. I wore the hell out of that dress, it got me through many summers and even fit over my belly through 2 pregnancies. Alas, the corduroy was not built to last so I asked a sewing friend of mine if she could turn it into a skirt and possible salvage the part of the corduroy with the hear on it. Turns out she rock and she could! It has maintained as my most-worn piece of clothing when I’m not at work and I dread the day when it just falls to pieces in my hands. However, I know what I’ll do with it then…have the pieces of it sewn into quilts I plan to have made for my grandchildren, along with my favorite baby clothes my boys wore. Sigh…I’m getting al little misty thinking about it!
You and the Chef rock and I’m sure your staff appreciates what wonderful people you are!
Seriously, my curvy jeans are the best I’ve had in lightYEARS!
So much so that my DH told me to buy MORE!! When does that happen??!
my favorite item of clothing is a gorgeous black silk marc jacobs top that i splurged on and is so versatile i can wear it any time any where.

my favorite article of clothing is any loose button down shirt! It covers my pot belly (^^;)
I would have to say its a tie between my camoflauge shorts and the hawaian t-shirt I have hanging in my closest by never wear.
The past couple of years I slowly gained weight (what can I say, I like to cool and eat…maybe thats why I’m a culinary student). As such I’m trying to be smarter about how I eat and excercise and what not. And why I’m not throwing a pity party or saying you should give me clothes because I am slowly losing weight (cause hey, my beer belly is kinda endearing.) I’m just saying as a back story for while those two articles of clothing are my favoriite.
The camo shorts are my largest pair of shorts and after my trip to Chicago last week where I walked around alot they’re falling down if I don’t where them with a belt. AND the Hawaiian T-shirt I can’t fit in so my goal is to lose enough weight to fit in it again.
Also I like my Chuck Taylors cause they’re comfortable. (but falling apart. ha)
Yeah, thats it.

This summer, my favorite piece of clothing has been an Old Navy cotton, fold-over skirt that is so super comfy I wear it almost every day. I went back and bought it in every color they had – black, grey, brown and navy! It feels like you’re wearing nothing!
My other favorites are timeless pieces that can coordinate with anything – great black pants, a wonderful flowy top, comfy boots, and great fitting jeans!
What a wonderful way to honor the awesome staff at GHT with that party!
love my scarves! so easy to add colour to any outfit, plus keep warm in the chilly fall around here: )

My favorite piece of clothing is a scarf a family member brought home from India for me- its all different shades on browns, oranges, yellows and reds and it just makes me happy! Its big enough that it can be a shawl, a scarf or a wrap-just love it!
Favorite article of clothing…hmmm….I’m a dude am I supposed to have a favorite piece of clothing? I guess I’d go with my flips or my Lucky jeans.
Who doesn’t love the bubbles? My favorite shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zatiksawyer/3830337670/in/set-72157622064024066/?addedcomment=1#comment72157622129463202
Followed closely by Keri’s ass shot and Chris’s skinny jeans (love the ‘stache!)
Wow – I wish I worked for you! Haha. I can’t live without my favorite bar of short black ankle boots in the fall, which would go perfectly with these jeans =)
After seeing so many blogs about these jeans I need to finally buck up and try on a pair!
My favorite article of clothing are my Gap Jeans and I need a new pair!
My favorite article of clothing… wow this is hard! haha I would have to say a jewel blue silk top I bought several years ago… you know when you’ve found “that color” that is just perfect for you? This is that color!
I posted on your FB page wall!
My favorite article of clothing is my vintage 1970′s Honda racing jacket. It’s my favorite because it looks badass, fits perfectly and was the first gift my boyfriend gave me that was not computer or car related. Ha!
My favorite flickr picture…

I commented under the name Miss Hellcat.
my favorite piece of clothing is a toss up between my pre-pregnancy long and lean gap jeans and this ugly pair of teal sweat pants with a skull on them. i’ve chopped them into shorts, but i love them b.c the are super comfy, super worn in… and well, both make my butt look wonderful (says the husband)! but i’m sure a pair of born to fit would do the same thing!
Looks like an awesome time! My fave pic is the B&W of all the staff on the stairs. Everyone looks pumped about the event and it’s a sweet background. My fave article of clothing right now is a pair of red wedge shoes with little bows – a splurge well-spent from years ago because they always make an outfit (especially with jeans…). Not sure if I can enter the Born to Fit giveaway on behalf of my chef… but I think his one pair of jeans is getting tired.
By the way, even though I’m in Canada I hope to visit the GHT in November!!
Jeans all the way! I don’t need to be entered into the contest, just mentioning that you have now convinced me to travel to the nearest Gap to see if I can find a pair that make my arse look fabulous (and at their price – this will be fantastic!)
I have the hardest time finding jeans. I would LOVE to try Gap again!
again, curvy for me!!!
I fell in love with a chef a year ago — now I’m a chef’s widow. We moved in together last month — selling my house, once I’ve gotten all my stuff out. I have a six-year-old son, who knows enough to refuse the beer (and wine too) by now. I dig your blog because it’s sooooo easy to relate to. I need new jeans because I fell in love with a chef a year ago and it’s been an amazing ride. I’ve got some flat, super pointy toe boots that I bought before I left Grenoble, France that I’ll never be able to replace that are just dying for some new skinny jeans. Selah!

Favortie clothing item would have to be my college pair of Long and Leans from the Gap. They have served me well for the past eight + years, yes years. However they are now my “go to” when I am bumming around with my two little ones (22 months and 4 months) running errands, checking out musuems, etc. It feels great to fit into something from so long ago, but it could be time for a jean that will not catch so many looks for all the rips.
Those jeans look amazing! I’m following you on twitter and I tweeted about the giveaway. http://twitter.com/kayliciousRN/status/3564963091
My favorite article of clothing is my PJs I never want to get out of them. But maybe I wouldn’t be so reluctant to do so if I can hop into a new pair of Gap jeans!
This is the best picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/zatiksawyer/3830335870/in/set-72157622064024066/. I like it cause the baby looks like its trying to grab a pair of jeans for him or herself! Cute
my favorite clothing item is a nicely worn in pair of jeans. unfortunately my favorite pair has a hole on the hip at the moment, but i’m still wearing them!
My favorite article of clothing… PJ pants! So cute, so comfy. Especially the PINK ones from VS. I hope I win some jeans though!!!

My favorite article of clothing is my Nike sweatpants- love the way they feel and get softer every time I wash them. I could wear them everyday but I can’t at work so I wear them 2-3 times a week when I get home or on weekends.
