Pit Bulls & Parolees: Cleveland Edition

Published in Widow Dogs by chefswidow

minus the whole parolees thing…

Pitbulls & Parolees is a show about an A-freaking-MAZING woman who takes pitbulls in, and rehabilitates (with the help of recent parolees) them for adoption.  When I saw the name of  the show I thought, ‘great, this is really gonna put the pit in a good  light.’  Turned out it actually does.  The spotlight is on the pitbull and his general good nature.  The show focuses on the abuse but also highlights the fact that the dog can get better.  The  parolees help rehabilitate and they seem genuinely affected by the mistreated dogs that they come upon.   Some even seemed ashamed like the abuse is something they could have done.  The beauty of the show is that pitbulls are seen in a positive light, they are not seen as the monsters they are often portrayed as.  Tia Torres, the owner of the Villalobos Rescue Center is saving the pitbull, one at a time. What a woman.

Potato, our pitbull, has given us so much life and happiness.  He is an amazing dog and I truly wish I could adopt 10 more pitties. Someday.  Someday.

How could we not love this guy?  All he does is cuddle and sleep.

Disclaimer: the Chef may have been was drinking all day at the schvitz before this video was filmed.

If you are in the market for a Potato pitbull I suggest checking out For The Love of Pits.  Shana Klein runs the joint and has been doing amazing work with pitbulls adoption.  She is currently seeking a home for Moses, an abused pit that was found chained up with a dead dog in a basement of someones house.  Disgusting.  Please contact her if you can help out, fostering, adoption, donation, anything.

Potato truely is the sweetest dog! I couln’t beleive how great he was with all the littles running around at Lou’s party. Most dogs (of any breed) would have gotten a bit huffy or mopey with so many kids invading their space and Potato was just there getting and giving love to everyone.

He is a good boy. He just goes about his business…or sleeps. As we can all see!

I am a big fan and supporter of this show. I am also a bully breed lover. Having rescued pitbulls myself and I am a paraplegic! These are the most loving dogs and so misunderstood. All they want is a job to do and someone to love them. I currently have a 9 month old English Mastiff female that I am training to be a Therapy dog. Hear that people, a therapy dog! There are no bad dogs just bad owners, and people need to understand the animal wants to act like a dog, not a four legged furry child. My 90 lb pup sleeps with me too……lol ; ) God Bless you and your family and crew Tia xoxoxo

I have a pitt about 7years old. What a loverboy. He was a stray I foung at church one morning. I thought that he belonged to someone living around there, but when I went back for potluck he was still there. After I ate and I was leaving he was lying next to my truck. I brought him home with me, puppy breath and all,\. The rest is history. The problem is he is to smart for his own good and got in trouble climbing the fence and getting out. The higher I take the fence the higher he climbs. Does anyone have any ideals to keep him in the yard other thana chain?
