It’s no secret that I am not a fan of laundry. The Chef & I have battled out over laundry more times that I care to admit. We have different styles. He likes to do it all at once. Me…not so much. I like to take my time with it. Sort the colors, wash a couple loads, and eventually fold.
We differ an our laundry styles most all of the time. Except when we are sick. The month of January will forever go down in our history as the month our entire family was sick. First Biggie Smalls came down with a double ear infection. Then the Chef & I got matching sinus infection, and finally the poor boy came down with the sickness and a cough that could take over Manhattan. When the sickness took over we literally gave up on everything, including laundry. The mound of sickness covered clothing just kep growing and growing and growing…

1 week of window wash
When Heinen’s contacted me to review the new Method laundry detergent I couldn’t say no. It was a sign. A sign to get my sick ass in gear and attack what was taking over the deep dark dungeon I like to call our laundry den.

Look at me! I love laundry!
When the FedEx truck came to our house I was literally knee deep in puke covered duvet (see above). For serious. The boy’s cough was so bad that it was causing him to vomit. Ahhh the joys of motherhood. I cleaned up the poor boy and took my duvet and my Method down to the den. Time to take action.
Since then I have used the Method detergent everyday. It has been almost 3 weeks and I can honestly say I have become a huge fan. First things first, the size of the bottle. Fifty loads in this tiny bottle works for me. I love compact and I love high efficient. This is the best of both. Second, the pump is silly easy. I have a standup washer so the drawer I have to fill with detergent is as tall as I am. Lugging a ginormous detergent bottle has always caused all sorts of spillage problems for me. The Method pump eliminates all spillage. 4 pumps in and I’m done(that’s what she said) . Last but certainly not least, the detergent smells good and continues to smell good after my clothes come out of the dryer. The majority of natural detergents I have used in the past do not keep my clothes smelling mmmm good. This is a big one for me. I like fresh smelling clothes. Method detergent gives me that.
In conclusion I am a fan. You should be too.
Now all I need is someone from Method to come to my house and fold all of this laundry I just did…

I’m a big fan of Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products. Natural, and they smell great – you can even get the same scent across all of their products!
Well, you’ve got my two favorites in that basket, so I am totally gonna try to win.
My fave is the lavender scented Method Multi-Surface. I love that stuff. I use it all over the house. It *works* and it smells good.
I always prefer to use natural cleaning products but sometimes i need tro whip out mr. clean’s magic eraser. i don’t know what’s in that bad boy but it’s definitely magic!
I actually like the method stuff in a citrus scent, but probably the favorite would be Murphy’s Oil Soap as we always seem to have wood floors in all of the houses we have owned.
I am obsessed with the Mr. Clean magic eraser. First of all, I bought it because the package says “magic” and I was all like, what if it really is? What if I get home and open the box and Mr. Clean pops out and then my house sparkles? Sadly, that did not happen. It is really easy to use and it doesn’t smell bad and it really works – especially on the stove where I tend to make the most messes! I even, accidentally, boiled over a pot of caramel once, but I let it dry and the Magic Eraser took care of the burnt sugar. Now, that is magic.
I loved it so much that after a little home hair dye experiment (I looked good as a red head, by the way…) I tried to rub some of the spilled hair dye that stained my forehead with the Magic Eraser. Don’t do that. It takes off the dye, but it also Magically Erases your skin. And that HURTS! A lot. And your forehead is much more senstive than you think it is! **shudder**
Murphy’s Oil! The smell of lemon and fresh wood floors is amazing.
I do love Method products, especially for the bathroom! There’s just something about the creepy chemicals in many cleaners whose fumes make you pass out if you don’t run the fan that isn’t conducive to getting nekkid and squeaky clean. I much prefer being able to clean my tub and then climb in it shortly thereafter.
I think my favorite cleaning product is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, or Greased Lightening, which is about a million times better than Formula 409.
My favorite cleaning product is Mrs. Meyers Geranium cleaner. It’s a little pricey so I usually splurge on the entire line once in the spring for a massive spring cleaning.
And I just bought a big bottle of Method Laundry (well, as big as their bottles get) last night…glad you liked it so much…I haven’t used it yet!
Arm & Hammer Daily Shower Cleaner- I haven’t had to scrub our tub since we started using it six months ago!
Funny that you ask because my new fav is a laundry detergent. I cloth diapered M and plan to do the same with the little man baking in my belly. You have to be choosy when picking detergents for cloths because so many leave a residue and then the diapers leak. I liked the brand we used for M (Allen’s Naturally) but didn’t like that I can’t find it locally and shipping costs are killer.
Enter Charlie’s Soap…OMG I’m in love with this stuff (and have a blog post drafted singing it’s praises). I’ve only used it for about a week and of course no dirty diapers yet but I think I’m a convert. You use only a tablespoon for an entire load, it rinses totally out of clothes and it just smells clean – no fragrance or perfumes. I’ve also noticed that some of our old tshirts that were kinda stinky under the arms now have no stink after a couple of washes. No enzymes or brighteners which can bother sensitive skin and cause diaper rash in cloth babies, either.
I ordered directly from the company in North Carolina – everything is made in the US and they have other cleaning products, too. I got a kit that also had the all-purpose cleaner which I’m also digging. I usually just use vinegar and water, but this is doing awesome on greese in the kitchen.
I have been hearing great things about the Method dishwasher tablets and as soon as we run out of what we currently have I will be trying those out.
Well, now I don’t feel so bad when I look at my laundry piles! It is just my hubs and I and ours is 10x WORSE!
I like to use white vinegar mixed with water to clean your normal [what should be daily] things like the kitchen counters, sinks etc. *Note, should be daily!
Add me to the list of vinegar and water fans!
I love Fabuloso. Might be a regional thing down here in TX, but it comes in an enormous bottle for a dollar or two and about 10 colors/scents. Gets everything amazingly clean and has such a distinctive smell that you can walk into someone’s house, or into the baker shop I used to work in at a hotel, and people will say “you just cleaned with Fabuloso!” We had to hide the bottle at the hotel so no one would “borrow” it.
My favorite cleaning product, believe it or not, is good old-fashioned vinegar. I put equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle with several drops of lavendar essential oil to cut the scent and my house is SPARKLING!
I do love the Method dish soap, though, so you should totally pick me. XO
Magic Eraser for sure. I love that it gets rid of all the grubby finger prints on my walls.
Mr. Clean Magic eraser’s rock. I have yet to come across something they can’t take care of.
Does my wife count as my favorite cleaning product?
when all else fails. I like “barkeepers friend”.
I am a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser fan too. I can’t believe how well it works. I also like the Method wipes for quick clean-ups in the kitchen.
Mrs Meyers Lemon Verbena Dryer Sheets. Something about it just reminds me of my Granny.
My mom always used lemon-scented Pledge, and I still love the smell. I still use Pledge, but have to use the unscented kind because of my hubby. Love the blog!!!!
I love Method products – not just the cleaners, but the body stuff, too. They have a rice milk lotion for babies that I will make my son use until he is 18 because it makes him smell so yummy and baby-like. It’s a little weird to have a favorite toilet bowl cleaner, but I do, and it’s Method’s eucalyptus and mint. Babyganics makes a wonderful and safe lavender tub cleaner. I also love Mrs. Meyer’s geranium-scented products, because they smell like an antique store. I guess I’m passionate about my cleaning products. I f*ing hate laundry, though. Sometimes I’ll fold my husband’s dirty clothes and put them back in the closet. He hasn’t noticed yet, so don’t tell him.
I have a little secret…I love cleaning! Just new to these Method products, so I love hearing what everyone has to say about them. I love anything that gets the job done, and smells good, too!
ohhh.. so fun!
both babes o’ mine have supersensative skin – and so we went from using fabulous smelling fabric softners to crappy no-scent pure and clear crap.
so i have to say that anything that is sensative, natural and smells good… i’m game!
finger’s crossed i get a chance to try it out!
XO
Thanks for the good tips – they remind me of that old joke about the vinegar truck colliding with the water truck . . . Douche! My guilty cleaning pleasure is the Swiffer, but I just put a washcloth on the end of it instead of those disposable things. Works like a charm.
I’m a fan of Mrs. Meyers, too! I suppose it doesn’t hurt that I became Mrs. Meyers two weeks ago today!
I recently (okay, at Christmas) was given by 2 different student’s and their families a cleaning kit from Williams-Sonoma filled with different cleaning products but one kit was peppermint and the other was the chestnut & spice kit. I fell in love with the counter spray of the peppermint! It’s natural, makes clean up a snap even for the tough ‘grime’ (and yes with 3 boys not including the Chef, we have grime!) that gets stuck… spray it on, let sit for a minute and wipe clean with a paper towel. The best part… my kitchen smelled FANTASTIC through the holidays with a peppermint smell, there’s also dish soap, lotion and hand soap in the kits. I’ve run out of the peppermint and moved onto the chestnut & spice but it’s the same way!
Only down side… I can’t get anymore of it until Christmas again but W-S does have others all year long!
I think I like good ole white vinegar and baking soda for natural (& cheap) cleaning. And if I need a little pick me up I mix them together in the sink and get that elementary school volcano. Bliss.
Fels-Naptha Soap — it’s the best. It’s one of those old school cleaners in bar form.
I love using it on laundry — it get out any stain that you can imagine. I spilled red wine on white linen pants, rubbed the bar of Fels-Naptha soap on the moisened stain and washed the pants….PRESTO… the stain was gone, and no shadow or anything! it’s great.
I love the Method French Lavender cleaner, I use it on everything! Also the Best in Glass Mint cleaner is amazing, it smells soooo good. Method product are especially great because they are all so budget friendly. I also love the Lysol Antibacterial Kitchen Cleaner. I hate cleaning but I I use that daily! I’m running low on laundry detergent so that would be helpful.
im an old fashioned comet fan! the (cheap) pans i have always mark up my porcelean sink and it takes the black marks away! i am OCD when it comes to cleaning out my sink before i wash dishes so it works great! i grew up using the stuff so thats probably why i still use it, BUT i am always trying to find something to make my cleaning easier, faster, better! haha. i use a wet jet between mopping too! (hopefully once the chef moves in no more black marks on the sink cause he has expensive pans!)
My favorite cleaning product is “Bar Keeper’s Friend”. Probably the ONLY thing I like about my kitchen is the white porcelain sink and Bar Keep’s Friend is only thing that gets rid of all the scratches and keeps it looking new.
I’ve never seen “Method” products before. Where are they sold?
I am a fan of clorox bleach. But on my floors, I use Method almond scented cleaner. Yum Yum!
It’s gotta be Up and Up brand magic eraser. Works just as good as the Mr. Clean, if not better, and costs half as much. How DOES it erase like that?
I HAVE to HAVE Method glass cleaner and the wood for good cleaner. The minute my mini started teething her mouth was on everything, including our windows, doors and coffee tables. Well i obvs couldn’t wait until she was 3 to resume cleaning so i needed to find something that was safe the clean with, not to mention, i am uber picky about using any toxic products to begin with- enter Method.
Hope you guys feel better- we’ve had the SAME thing for about a month now and i am totally done with it!
I am your laundry twin! I keep teasing the hubby that my “living out of laundry baskets system” is the bomb! He disagrees.
Two things I cannot live without…the Swiffer and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.
I have to say that I have never gone “natural” and would love to give it a try! Being totally honest, my favorite cleaning product right now is KABOOM. I spray it in the shower, leave it and rinse. No scrrubbing necessary. I know it is probably not “green” but I am totally willing to change my ways.
PUREX 3 in 1 sheet- it has a tendency to get sucked into my washer but- I am a fan. I keep the sheets to scrub crayon marks from the wall and tv/ scrub the tub. And CW-
I have to learn to stop reading your blog when I’m on the phone- the 4 pumps crack made me laugh out – poor customers.
That method multi-purpose spray is the shizz! My husband has a nasty habit of leaving wine rings all over our generic corian counters. Red wine is delicious, but boy does it stain. Method has saved his bacon many a time when I thought the counters were totaled. It picks up wine and coffee stains on the counter with minimal effort. Minimal effort is good.
I adore Method’s laundry detergent & fabric softener in Fresh Air scent. It smells so good, cleans the heck out of my clothes, and it’s better for the environment. Method, FTW!
I love Method’s Little Bowl Blue and Le Scrub. My bathroom smells so fresh after using them and they do a great job cleaning! I also like that there aren’t harsh chemical residues left over after I’ve used them. It’s a biggie for me with my asthma. (The eucalyptus mint scent is so delicious that I keep emailing Method and asking them if they’ll make it into a room spray.)
i love method’s fresh air laundry! i’m so glad they brought it back, with the new and reduced carbon footprint! my favorite cleaning product is probably method’s le scrub bathtub cleaner. that stuff works like magic!
Hey Girl! Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser. Probably not so green, but it sure is amazing!
I love my Tide, bounce and Downy, but I have heard sooo many great things about Method! Think I will give them a try!
I have the lavender Method Multi Surface and I love it! Smells so light and fresh, and I use it everywhere.
Mr Clean Magic eraser! Amazing!
draino does wonders on my shower. i’d be knee-deep in water without out!
Sounds crazy but I love the Magic Erasers from Mr. Clean. They clean off the paw prints my dog leaves when he’s literally bouncing off the walls. And the paint stays.
