When I was in high school my girlfriends and I used to hang out in cemeteries, smoke weed, & listen to PJ Harvey. We used to pretend we were faeries dancing in a secret enchanted forest of pixies and nymphs. We smoked really good weed. Hopefully no one was watching because now that I look back on those fond evenings I can now see how utterly insane (not to mention stoned out of our heads) we must have looked.
Nowadays, I find myself visiting my grandma at a cemetery. Well more like a mosque, because she wasn't into getting buried underground. Today was her birthday so the boy & I packed up the car, popped Rid of Me in the cd player and headed off towards the graveyard.
When we got there, the sky turned black but the sun still shone. It was creepy & beautiful all at once. We said hello to Louisa Rosa an wished her a Happy Birthday. Then we hung out. We walked through the graves, ran away from the fountain, and generally enjoyed the rest of our day sitting under a tree in the cemetery watching planes fly overhead. It was way better than high school...
Don't get me wrong, I loved dancing around like a faerie goddess on acid. It's just at this point in my life, anything that Catcher & I can enjoy together takes the cake on everything. Guess that's what mommydom is all abiz'out.
