I am such a psycho when it comes to chemicals. I have a huge aversion to the way cleaning products smell as well as lawn fertilizers. Yesterday I came home to my neighbor spraying mass amounts of chemicals all over his lawn. The air smelled disgusting and I was forced to close all my windows and doors. It was that overpowering. The first thing I read today was this: EPA is ordering Scotts Miracle-Gro Co., located in Marysville, Ohio, to stop selling and distributing two pesticide products that have not been registered with the EPA. The pesticides are "Garden Weed Preventer + Plant Food" and "SLS Fertilizer With .28 Halts" and are commonly used on lawns by homeowners.
These products have not been registered with the EPA and are labeled with invalid EPA registration numbers. EPA has not reviewed any information about the safety of these products. Pesticide products must be registered with the EPA to protect public health and the environment.
Yuck. Knowing our luck our neighbor was probably dousing his lawn with the recalled products. Gross. Gross. Gross. I just don't get using chemicals on your lawn. I have never sprayed anything on our lawn and for the most part it looks pretty damn green. The dandelions get a little crazy but a once over with a lawn mower seems to do the trick.
