James Beard Awards 2013
Oh my gosh. This weekend has been a whirlwind! Between the eating and the drinking and the karaoke-ing and the red carpet walking I need a vacation.
The Chef and I spent the last 4 days in New York City, enjoying new restaurants, the neighborhood we fell in love in, our friends, our peers, and each other. We were in town for the James Beard Awards as the Chef was a finalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes. He didn't take home the medal but he still won at life. As we walked the red carpet arms linked, I could him but smile with overwhelming pride and happiness.
Life can be pretty cool sometimes.
After the awards we headed to Del Posto. As I listed to Lidia Bastianich speak about the family they have created at Del Posto. As the tears welled up as her beautiful words flowed, I couldn't help but relate it to our family at The Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat. While it's nice to see the Chef get recognized for the amazing and extremely talented chef he is, it's not lost on him. He and I both know that without the people who believe in our dreams, without the people who work everyday along our side, and without our ever evolving restaurant family, we would be nothing.
