First review: something no woman should ever ever ever go without.
The Upside Down ShowLast Saturday the best friend came over and we shared a bottle of vin. The kids played like maniacs and then crashed like junkies. Since we hadn’t finished the bottle yet we turned on the boob tube and found the most tripped out kids show ever. Besides the original tripster we like to call Yooooooooooo Gabba Gabba!!
The Upside Down Show is like the super dank for toddlers. Seriously we turned it on and both kids were in crying hysterics for the entire duration. We had to know their secrets…
So we sat down. We watched. They laughed. We laughed.
The premise is insanity and creativity. It is all based on the pretend play & mime of The Umbilical Brothers, two brothers played by Shane Dundas and David Collins. Two Aussies who have seriously perfect toddler comedy.
With television raising so many children today, I have vowed not to let ours play a vital role in my children’s life. We have rules and time limits and in the summer I get rid of the cable all together.
The Upside Down Show is something I can get behind. It is creative and funny (really funny to 3 year olds), and my son doesn’t want to fight after watching it. A+ in my book. Judge for yourself:
Of course as I was writing this post I discovered that Nick has now cancelled this. Good thing I have the Tivo.
My poor little man. Ever since I returned from Gay Paree, CatcherCrazyFace has had a rough time sleeping. It started with him crashing our bed every night at about 4am and has led to a complete breakdown in our bedtime ritual. He used to be amazing at bedtime. We had a schedule and we stuck to it. We did dinner, then a bath, play time for 20, and finally book time @ 8. I would read a million and 1 books and he would fall asleep easily and gently by 9. Those days seem to be gone forever.
A frightened and anxiety ridden boy has replaced him.
Each night is now a battle and a fright fest. First there is the screaming and kicking and crying. Then I calm him down and read to him. He senses my preparation to leave his bedroom and flips the fuck out. The screaming and kicking and crying begin again. I leave because I have to. But then just as the crying fades and I think my baby boy is sleeping sound he starts to scream. ’There are monsters in my room mama, MONSTERS!’‘ I hear the dread in his sweet voice and head back to his room. I tell him it’s ok and hand him his light saber. (Monsters are scared of light sabers, in fact they can’t even enter a room if a light saber is in one) He sniffles and cries a little bit more. And then he pulls me in for a hug and kiss and tells me he loves me. And my day is done.
A few hours later I find him sleeping soundly. Not in his bed. But not in mine either
Again and again thru the tantrums, and the thru insanity I find myself more in love with this boy each moment of each day.
Mamma Goes to Paris & Catcher Snags a Hot Chick
Published in Widow Kids by chefswidow { 4 comments }On a trip to the circus with Aunt Becky, Catcher manages to snag himself an older woman.
And possibly falls in love…
My little man joins the ranks of students everywhere with his kick ass recycled soda bottle backpack.
Success, my friends. Granted I was a stressball for a few hours but we pulled it off.
Thank you to those friends and family who made it out to Ledge Lake for the Orange You Glad Catcher is 3 party. We had a grand time! And for those of you who skipped the party of the year…SHAME, SHAME, you missed a rager (not to mention some of the best food ever cooked by the chef).
Catcher Crazy Face is fascinated by the intriguing jellies at the Akron Zoo.
